Candice Maier, PhD LMFT

As a therapist trained in narrative therapy, Candice has worked with a wide range of personal and relationship issues. She has been working with individuals, couples, and families for the past ten years in residential and outpatient therapy across the Midwest.

 

Candice takes a positive approach to therapy, helping clients to build on their strengths and resources as a foundation for change. Her clinical interests include self-esteem and identity-related issues, depression/anxiety, couple and family therapy, and play therapy. Candice is also affirming of LGBTQIA+ relationships and communities.

 

Candice received her master's degree from North Dakota State University and her PhD in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Iowa. She is currently an Assistant Professor and Clinical Director for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Candice also teaches and supervises in the Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Human Services Department. Candice is active in researching topics pertaining to couples therapy, gender, feminism, health, and telehealth practices.

 

Candice resides in River Falls with her husband, Joshua, and their beloved cat, Oscar. Outside of being a faculty member and clinician, Candice enjoys traveling, going on nature walks/hikes, photography, and watching reruns of The Amazing Race with her husband.
